Day 22 Monday, February 20, 2023 Las Vegas, NM
Happy Presidents' Day
Las Vegas is a small town about an hour away from Santa Fe. It was an important point along the Santa Fe Trail. The arrival of the Railroad brought visitors from the East and money to the town. As a result there are over 900 homes of varying architectural styles that are listed on the national Register of Historic Places. Because of its location it was also a hang out for outlaws like Billy the Kid and Doc Holliday. It was one of the roughest towns in the west. Today it is genteel and the people kind. We walked a good part of the town and saw a lot although somethings were closed due to the holiday.
