Day 9 - Basel to JFK - Sunday, October 1, 2023
Up at 6:00 so we could have our bags outside or door by 7:00. Ate a quick breakfast and went to the bus to take us to the airport in Basil. We had sailed and arrived here overnight. It was a fairly short ride to the airport and we had to wait to check in. Flight to Amsterdam was uneventful. We walked to our gate which was quite a distance since Amsterdam is a big airport and were surprised to see that they were already boarding. Flight was fine and the food a bit better than the flight over. Landed at JFK on time and made it through customs with Global Entry in record time. Our bags were almost the first out and we got our Uber to head back to Chris and Vesna's. That was the quickest we've ever gotten out of an airport! Said our goodbyes to Richard and Peachy who, sorry to say, still had another leg of the trip ahead of them. It was a great trip. Saw so many wonderful sights, had great meals and absolutely wonderful traveling partners. Will rest up until our next journey which will take us to Ecuador and the Galapagos. Let's see how much Quito has changed in 50 years!
