Trip to Morocco

 Day 1 - Monday, January 2, 2023 - Syracuse to JFK

We were up in the wee hours - unusual for us - but our train left Syracuse at 7 am and we didn't want any surprises on the trip down. We didn't have snow, cold, ice or fog to contend with - only a little rain and a couple of deer that ran in front of the truck. So we were out of the house by 4 and safely at the train station by 5:30. It was an uneventful 5 3/4 hour trip which allowed us to catch some zzzzs and pull into Penn Station by 12:45. From there we caught the Long Island Railroad for a short trip to Jamaica Station . Along the way we met a nice young semi truck driver from LA who had spent the holidays in NYC. He didn't know how to get to JFK so we filled him in on the LIRR and AirTran to JFK. He was most appreciative. We made it to JFK but were extremely early. It was 2:00 and Royal Air Maroc didn't open its check in until 4. We took the opportunity to get some lunch. The lines to get though security were at least 1200 people. Lines 3 deep throughout the terminal and then a Disney World like maze. We've come to recognize that while we immensely enjoy any trip we've taken airline travel is sorely lacking.  These airlines don't recognize TSA Precheck, like Aer Lingus, from our last trip but since I had our cards they did let us in a somewhat shorter line. The joy was short lived though when we had to unpack all our electronics, liquids and take off our shoes. Our fight took off a little late but you know better late than never. They did serve dinner and it was pretty good. I had the chicken and Ron the salmon. The tv and movie selection weren't too good so it allowed me to get some sleep which isn't a bad thing.  My only regret is that I won't be able to cheer the Bills on tonight. That's probably not bad either since my yelling and language could get me kicked off the flght. I'll have to wait until morning to hear the result. GO BILLS!. With a 6 1/2  hour flight and 6 hour time difference when we land it will be Tues. morning. Until then.

The lines for security were crazy in JFK but we
made it through
